Is there a fee for international transfers?
No, thanks to the use of blockchain technology, cross-border transfers and remittance are entirely free between Cadmos Pay users. A cost is however incurred when topping up the wallet or withdrawing to the recipient local payment system. This is because there is a fee associated to converting "banking system" money to "blockchain" money.
Who can use this wallet?
There is no restriction or censorship on who can use Cadmos Pay. Cadmos Pay is a permissionless infrastructure which can be used by anyone anywhere. Some regulated services offered through our platform do however require KYC (Know Your Customer) and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) checks to be passed.
What does self-custody mean?
It means that you are the only one who controls the keys to your digital money. This setup allows you full control over your funds and their security, meaning only you can access and transact with your assets. In contrast, if someone else holds your keys, like a bank or a crypto exchange, they control your money, and you have to rely on them to keep it safe and accessible. This introduces risks such as potential mismanagement, hacking, or even the third-party denying access to your funds. At Cadmos we do not have access to your keys and do not control your money, this means that your money is safely stored on the blockchain even if we disappear.
What happens if I lose my phone?
The keys to your assets are stored in your phone. If you lose or change your cell phone, you will have to either:
- Create new keys for your wallet. This process takes a week and is only possible if you have selected the "simple recovery mode" during account creation, which gives us the right to migrate your wallet.
- Input your key into your new device to restore your control onto your funds. You can either input your seed (a list of twelve words) or an encrypted recovery key.
How do I reset my password?
There is no password to remember in Cadmos Pay. You can log in using a two-factor OTP (One Time Password) sent to your email and phone number. To be able to transact using your wallet, your phone must additionally contain a copy of your digital asset key.
What can I invest in?
With Cadmos Pay, you automatically earn interest on your balance. You can also explore investment opportunies and put your money to work by:
- Depositing it on decentralized lending markets or directly lending it to the U.S. government by purchasing treasury bills.
- Buying a variety of cryptos such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, UNI etc…
- Coming soon: Buying Real World Assets such as gold, real estate, stocks, etc…
What currencies does Cadmos Pay support?
You can deposit and withdraw from Cadmos in USDT or USDC as well as in a wide variety of fiat currencies such as USD, EUR, GBP, AED …
Where are the underlying dollars secured?
Cadmos supports USDT and USDC, the two dominant stablecoins. They both are mainly backed by U.S. Treasury reserves maintained by their respective issuers.
